Dear mechanics teachers,After three years of dedicated effort in building the PRIMECH community, the current core team's term is coming to an end, so it is time to look back on what we have accomplished.Together, we have organized 15 events featuring 16 speakers, 7 accelerate projects, and 200 chocolate bars! What’s next?You will find out during the upcoming event on June 14th.The event will feature presentations on the program's future directions and plans, developed together with the PRIMECH Advisory Board. There will also be fun activities and plenty of throwbacks to the past years we've shared. Integrating Sustainability into Aerospace Mechanics Education: PRIMECH completed another Accelerate project.Join us on May 16th from 12:30-13:30 at the Teaching Lab to find out more!Daniël Peeters, Assistant Professor in AE, will present the Accelerate project he led, which aimed at incorporating sustainability into his Mechanics of Materials course. To achieve this, he collaborated with the dream team AeroDelft using their hydrogen plane as a case study. He worked with the AE Green Team, who developed additional sustainability content modules, and with PRIMECH, who helped with developing interactive visuals and slides. Daniel will discuss the process he followed, the feedback he collected from students, and his plans for next year.Through this initiative, students gain exposure to practical applications of sustainability principles in their field of study, enhancing their understanding of sustainability's role in the design of aerospace structures. 🚀 PRIMECH Accelerate update!🚀In March of last year, we started collaborating with Alexandra Gavriilidou (CEG) on her project to develop a virtual reality escape room as a formative assessment for the Y1Q2 Dynamics course she teaches.In the virtual escape room, students are tasked with the mission to prevent the flooding of the CEG building, employing their dynamics knowledge to do so. The activity was successfully piloted in December, just before the winter holidays.Do you love escape rooms as much as we do and would you like to develop a similar activity for your course? Make sure to attend her presentation, as Alexandra will discuss the process she went through to develop this activity in detail, along with all the lessons learned.
