Climbing session – Get ready to climb! All skill levels are welcome to join Outdoor Recreation on a two-hour climbing session at the premier climbing gym in Nashville. Everyone will have 12,000 square feet to have fun climbing and challenge themselves. This adventure costs $25 which includes transportation, harness rental, and a belay lesson/orientation class. Ice skating – Outdoor Rec. is hosting a Family trip to the indoor ice skating rink at Nashville’s Centennial Sportsplex. This multipurpose recreation and sports facility offers public skating on one of their two full size ice rinks. Cost of $10 includes transportation, admission and skate rental. Kentucky Crafted – The wholesale trade show and market place features traditional and contemporary art and crafts, books, musical recordings, films and food products. The event is open to the public Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Kentucky Exposition Center, South Wing B in Louisville, Ky.   • From the Motherland to the Promiseland – Sherre Miller Bishop, dramatist, orator, singer and playwright will perform. Don’t miss out on this mesmerizing musical revival of the African-American worship experience Sunday at 10 a.m. at the Community Chapel, 15th and Ashau Valley Road. Admission is free.
  • Annual Tell Me a Story – Join the R.F. Sink Library and Parent 2 Parent as they invite you to participate in their 3rd Annual Tell Me a Story at the Family Resource Center, Bastogne Avenue. On Sunday, Patty Schloesser will be the guest reader. Following the story, children will be divided into groups and given a map of the United States for an activity. Families will receive a copy of “Our 50 States” by Lynne Cheney. Registration must be done in-person at the library 38 Screaming Eagle Blvd. This free event is from 3 to 5 p.m. and is for military ID card holders, DOD civilian employees and contractors with ID cards.   • Deal in spades – Come bluff and rely on your partner as DW Rec. offers the Post Wide Spades Tournament where the top three finishers will be awarded trophies. Hosanna – Hosanna, a 4-person Christian music group from Dickson, Tn. will perform Sunday at the First United Methodist Church’s monthly coffeehouse performance in Clarksville Sunday at 4 p.m. Admission is free, but a love offering will be taken.   • Black History Month Luncheon – The Equal Employment Opportunity Office cordially invites you to attend the Black History Month Luncheon from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday at Cole Park Commons. Riverdance – Showcasing Irish music and dance, with a sampling of African-American tap and Spanish flamenco, Riverdance is an extraordianry show, great for audiences of all ages. The Tennessee Performing Arts Center is offering a discount to Fort Campbell families for the farwell tour of Riverdance in Nashville Feb. 24 to March 1. $10 off ticket prices Feb. 24 to 26 and $5 off Feb. 27 to March 1.   • Checkmate – Come compete in a two-day Post Wide Chess Tournament on Feb. 28 and March 1. Chess tournament is open to all eligible MWR users and all players must be available to play both days of the tournament. Tournament play is from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. and trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers. All events are located at D.W. Siver Screen Saturday – Unchained Memories: Readings from the Slave Narratives, a HBO documentary film in association with the Library of Congress will play at 2 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Fort Negley Visitors Center on 1100 Fort Negley Blvd. in Nashville, TN. During the late 1930s, journalists and writers toured the country interviewing more than 2,000 former slaves freed by the Civil War. These interviews, transcribed as spoken, form a distinctive historical record. The showing is free and open to the public. World’s Largest Military Show – Ohio Valley Military Society hosts the 17th annual Show of Shows at the Kentucky Exposition Center, South Wing B in Louisville, Ky. March 6 and 7. Guests can meet legendary veterans and buy, sell or trade items with more than 600 exhibitors that showcase an assortment of military antiques and displays. The show represents American and forgian militarys from ancient and modern times. The show is from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The cost is $9 for adults and children 18 and under are free when accompanied by an adult. A two-day pass is available for $16. LIVE at the Alhambra – The Annie Moses band comes to Alhambra Theatre stage in Hopkinsville, Ky. March 6 at 7:30 p.m. The six siblings (ages 10 to 24) and their songwriting parents perform Champer Pop, Celtic Fusion, Ballads, Rock, Jazz, and Bluegrass. Southern Kentucky Book Fest – April 18 the Sloan Convention Center in Bowling Green, Ky. plays host to the Southern Kentucky Book Fest. Among the authors there will be Dana Canedy. Canedy, a senior editor for the New York Times, wrote A Journal for Jordan, a combination of a journal from 1st Sgt. Charles Monroe and her words as well to their son, Jordan. Jordan was only seven months old when he father was killed by an improvised explosive device while deployed to Iraq in Oct. 2006. The primary goal of the sewing class is to teach anyone 9 years of age and older about the art and skill of using needle and thread.
