what i HOPE is that he took his time in T1 and put a LOT of clothes on. he's fine in cold weather, he dresses less for the cold than i do when we both go out in the same weather, but in this case i hope he bundled up.

Jordan likely took his time to get ready in T1 after that cold swim. We will know more in the next couple hours

Jordan is now sitting in 4th place behind Lars Petter Stormo, the defending champion. Alan Hovda is not far ahead in 2nd place. Race leader Vold is known for his cycling prowess

if the data and reporting is accurate he's been averaging about 315 watts, which is too high for a race average (probably more like 285w), but to be expected considering the first part of the race climbs, what, 4000'? i suspect the rest of the leaders overbiked the first hill. he was 327w average by the time he got most of the way up the hill, and that means vold was cycling similarly (and for the matter the first half-dozen guys). you'd better be a very good cyclist to ride that hard in the first 15 miles of this race.
if he rides to form he should close it down by mile-60 or 70, and then add another chunk from there to the finish. when he's having his day on the bike he's brutal over the last 40 miles. but i think this is one of those races where it's easy to not have your day.

did you hear the lady commentator in the field describe the support crews as responsible for everything except, maybe, "wipe their ass." priceless. this is the best.

With only 244 athletes left all he has to do for that is to be a finisher.

What are the drafting rules going uphill? Still need to keep 12 metres?

IIRC, you're allowed to ride side by side up the hills but can't draft.

OK, so I fall asleep watching (no fault of the race, just me), then sleep all night and then wake up (take a dump, wipe my own butt by the way) and these guys are still racing. Meanwhile, Usein Bolt would have raced, had a nice dinner, partied all nite, had wild sex with his groupies and still have enough time to get ready for his next round of racing.
